David Johnson

Biography:   David Johnson has been involved with the Victorian Society of Colorado Springs since July of 2008, but has been interested in the Victorian era since the late 1980s.  Since becoming involved with the VSCS, David has served as the chairperson for the first Twelfth Night Tea and the 2009 Grand Victorian Ball.  He also volunteers at Miramont Castle as a guide when time permits.  David lives on the plains of Colorado where he also works at the local school teaching English and drama.  He is presently taking classes towards a Master's degree in history at UCCS, and expects to complete his coursework there in the spring of 2011.

Duties:   The president is the chief executive officer of the VSCS.  The office is elected annually by the board at the January board meeting.  (VSCS Bylaws 7:2)     The duties of the president are :

- Chair board meetings and manage agenda items
- Chair general meetings
- Non-exclusively maintain and manage VSCS Announcement list and VSCS Chat list on Google
- Interface with other groups and organizations for events and general promotion
- Serve as primary contact point for VSCS inquiries
- Provide general guidance and direction to the group within the guidelines of the mission statement, and subject to board approval
- Be an active and visible presence at Victorian events across the the community and region as much as practical
- Serve as, at minimum, an ex officio member of all event committees, and offer other services to event committees as appropriate (Bylaws 7:7)
